Following this morning’s release of the trailer for Marvel Studios’ “Daredevil: Born Again,” one of the show’s stars has spoken about the new season and how big the series would get in terms of scale.

The trailer itself had a big focus on the interaction between Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk who meet in a cafe in one scene. At this point, Matt has seemingly retired the Daredevil persona while Fisk is now mayor of New York.

The pair’s confrontations were often considered a highlight of the prior seasons due to the simmering tension threatening to boil over. Cox and D’Onofrio spoke with EW and says those making it are well aware of the power of their scenes. Cox says:

“I believe you have to be really careful when and how you bring these two people into the same room because we have to feel like when they meet, it is an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object. It has to feel like it could and will explode. The more you bring us together with no consequence, the less that illusion can maintain itself.

There’s actually an episode later on in the season where in an original draft we had a conversation, and I brought this up. I said, ‘I worry that if you tell the story that we can have a conversation and walk away from it at this stage, we lose a lot of stakes.’ So they found a really cool way to not have us do that.”

D’Onofrio meanwhile teases that ‘Born Again’ will go beyond what the fans can imagine: “Anything on our show is, nine out of 10 times, leading to something that’s even bigger and crazier.”

“Daredevil: Born Again” took ages for its trailer to debut, but now that it has the wait isn’t long at all with the show to debut on the Disney+ service on March 4th.
