Still more names have been revealed as starring in the second season of Netflix’s live-action “One Piece” series which wrapped production last month in South Africa.
Rigo Sanchez (“Outer Banks,” “Station 19,” “Animal Kingdom”) has scored the key role of ‘Dragon’ in the series, even if only just a guest star this season. The role is a recurring one throughout the series and has a key connection with not just Luffy but another key character in the series.
Without giving away spoilers, the character is a mysterious revolutionary aiming to bring down the World Government and is dubbed the ‘World’s Worst Criminal’. He was also glimpsed from behind in the opening sequence of the show’s premiere.
Also joining are Yonda Thomas (“Redemption”) and James Hiroyuki Liao (“Presumed Innocent”) in the roles of Igaram and Ipponmatsu respectively. Igaram is Mr. 8, the captain of the Arabasta royal guard who aids Nefertari Vivi in infiltrating Baroque Works and is partnered with Miss Monday. Ipponmatsu is a shop owner in Logue Town.
The trio join returning cast members Iñaki Godoy, Mackenyu, Emily Rudd, Jacob Romero, Taz Skylar, Ilia Isorelys Paulino, Jeff Ward, and Michael Dorman. New cast members for the second season include: Charithra Chandran, Joe Manganiello, Katey Sagal, Lera Abova, Mark Harelik, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Brendan Sean Murray, Callum Kerr, Camrus Johnson, Clive Russell, Daniel Lasker, David Dastmalchian, Jazzara Jaslyn, Julia Rehwald, Rob Colletti, Ty Keogh, and Werner Coetser.
More key casting roles have yet to be announced, including the identity of who will be providing the voice of Tony Tony Chopper. Matt Owens and Joe Tracz serve as writers, executive producers, and co-showrunners on the series which returns towards year’s end.
