After briefly appearing and then disappearing after a few minutes yesterday, Warner Bros. Discovery has now officially released the first trailer for filmmaker Barry Levinson’s new period mob drama “Alto Knights”.
The film stars Robert De Niro as two different characters – namely two of New York’s most notorious Italian-American organized crime bosses, Frank Costello and Vito Genovese, as they vie for control of the city’s streets
Once the best of friends, petty jealousies and a series of betrayals place them on a deadly collision course that will reshape the Mafia (and America) forever.
Cosmo Jarvis, Debra Messing, Kathrine Narducci, Wallace Langham and Belmont Cameli co-star in the film which is being penned by author Nicholas Pileggi who penned the “Wiseguy” book that became Scorsese’s “Goodfellas”.
DeNiro and Levinson previously teamed on 2008’s acclaimed HBO telemovie “The Wizard of Lies” about Bernie Madoff. The new film is being touted as Levinson’s return to major studio filmmaking.
“Alto Knights” is being produced by Irwin Winkler and Jason Sosnoff and has been set for a theatrical release on March 21st.
