New sexual misconduct and assault claims have surfaced against best-selling fantasy author Neil Gaiman, and questions remain about the fate of several TV adaptations of his work.

New York Magazine published a cover story on Monday detailing graphic new claims made against Gaiman based on interviews with eight women, several of whom have spoken on the record about incidents that took place over just the past few years.

This follows on from earlier graphic accusations in July 2024 by five women against the writer, four of whom are speaking in this new investigative piece. The piece also indicates that according to Gaiman’s reps, those relationships were entirely consensual.

Several television and film projects based on his works have been left in limbo or cancelled in recent times following the earlier allegations last year, though the studios haven’t cited specific reasoning for why they’ve stalled.

Whether these new claims will have a further impact (ie. more outright cancellations) is unclear at present, but THR has reached out to both Netflix and Amazon for comment on the status of their Gaiman-related projects and so far haven’t received a response.

Netflix has the second season of “The Sandman” in post-production – the new run was in its final weeks of filming when the first wave of allegations hit and the new episodes are expected out this year.

A third season of “Good Omens” was in production at Amazon but paused when the allegations resurfaced. Gaiman has exited the project and the season is being retooled as a single 90-minute movie to end the series.

A TV series based on Gaiman’s “Anansi Boys” wrapped filming back in May 2022 but there’s been no word on the fate of that series since. Last year Netflix opted not to renew the series “Dead Boy Detectives” based on the comics by Gaiman and Matt Wagner.
