The Producers Guild has again postponed its 2025 PGA Awards nominations for film and television due to the continuing wildfires engulfing parts of Los Angeles.

The guild initially delayed its nominations announcement until Sunday and have now pushed it back again to next week “out of care and concern for those being affected by the fires” according to a statement. The PGA awards are seen as a big indicator of potential Best Picture winners at the Oscars.

Various awards bodies, including the Writers Guild of America and American Society of Cinematographers, have moved their nomination announcements in the wake of events along with extending awards voting periods.

Awards shows, movie premieres and screenings for Oscar hopeful films have also seen delays due to the fires, even the Oscars nominations announcement itself has been pushed back and won’t take place until January 19th.

The Los Angeles fires began this past Tuesday in the Pacific Palisades area and have left at least 16 people dead and over 12,000 structures burned. In all, roughly 62 square miles of the city have burned so far with numerous stars having lost their homes.

Strong winds fueled the spread of the fires, calmer winds in recent days allowing firefighters to make progress. Unfortunately strong winds have are returning so the crisis is not over by a long shot.
