Sony Spider-Man Universe
Longtime Sony Pictures executive Palak Patel, who oversaw the Sony “Spider-Man” spin-off films, has exited the company and has just been named CCO of Prime Focus Studios – the production arm of visual effects studio DNEG.

Patel was with Sony/Columbia for almost ten years and held the post of executive vp, production and development.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Ubisoft has delayed “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” once again, pushing the title back from February 14th to March 20th to “better incorporate the player feedback gathered over the past three months”.

Ubisoft announced the release date delay in a press release Thursday which also disclosed the company is preparing itself for a potential sale. [Source: Variety]

Twisted Love
Netflix has scored the rights to adapt Ana Huang‘s romance novel “Twisted Love” and its sequels into a TV series in a seven-figure option deal. No cast is attached at this time.

The show follows the lives of four best friends and their brooding love interests, riddled with dark secrets from their pasts, as they overcome the obstacles keeping them apart to fall in love. [Source: Variety]

Glen Powell
Glen Powell and his production banner Barnstorm have signed a first-look film deal with Universal Pictures where he made last year’s “Twisters”.

Dan Cohen will help run Barnstorm as Powell’s partner. “Twisters” hit Peacock in November and became the service’s biggest Pay 1 film ever in its first 14 days on the platform. [Source: THR]

Dune Messiah
Filmmaker Denis Villeneuve has confirmed that after “Dune Messiah” is completed, he’s done with the Dune-verse.

He says “I still want to go back to Arrakis” and then when the interviewer asks “just one more time?” he says “Yes. After that, it would become unhealthy.” The film will reportedly start production as early as August/September. [Source: The Wrap]
