Marvel Studios is reportedly considering recasting the character of T’Challa for the third “Black Panther” according to The InSneider.
The late Chadwick Boseman played the character over several films but passed away five years ago. As a result, the second film underwent a drastic overhaul before filming – his character dying (off screen) in the early moments of the film.
That second film passed the Black Panther mantle to Shuri (Letitia Wright). With the upcoming “Avengers” films though and all their multiverse possibilities, T’Challa could come back with a change of his appearance also explained.
The other possibility some are suggesting T’Challa’s son, also named T’Challa, introduced in the closing moments of ‘Wakanda Forever’. The character would have to be aged up (he’s only a kid) so again a multiverse variant would be the most likely possibility.
The report also indicates the studio approached at least one Hollywood star last year to take over as T’Challa, only to be turned down.
A third “Black Panther” film is in the works with Denzel Washington cast in an unspecified role while director Ryan Coogler is returning, but there’s no indication when that film will likely go into production.
