Disney+ has ordered the pilot for a TV series based on the same story as the 2003 feature film “Holes” which starred Shia LaBeouf.

The “Holes” series would serve as a new adaptation of the 1998 book of the same name by Louis Sachar.

This reimagining of work follows a teenage girl is sent to a juvenile detention camp for a crime he did not commit.

Now incarcerated at Camp Green Lake, the ruthless Warden forces the campers to dig holes in a dry lake bed for a mysterious purpose.

As the story, the teen discovers that both his own story and the story of their family are more connected to Camp Green Lake than he could have ever imagined.

Liz Phang will serve as showrunner, Alina Mankin serves as writer and both will executive produce alongside Drew Goddard,l Mike Medavoy and Sarah Esberg.

Walden Media and 20th Television are producing the pilot.
