Filmmaker Coralie Fargeat says she has no plans for a sequel to her highly acclaimed 2024 feature “The Substance” and certainly will be going with something quite different for her next film. She tells Variety: “The point of this movie to bring fresh things to the world. No sequels, no prequels… I’m going to be happy to bring something fresh to the world in a bit”
The Batman Part II
Filmmaker Matt Reeves has offered a brief update regarding his “The Batman” sequel while at the Golden Globes. He tells Deadline that they will be filming this year (but didn’t provide an exact window) and his hopes for the film:
“I can tell you that we’re gonna be shooting this year and that we’re excited about it. What I’m excited about is I feel like we’re doing something that absolutely continues where the story came from, but is something that I hope people are going to be really surprised by.”
National Society of Film Critics
The National Society of Film Critics has announced its winners for 2024 with “Nickel Boys” voted the best film of the year while Colman Domingo (“Sing Sing”), Kieran Culkin (“A Real Pain”), and “Hard Truths” pair Marianne Jean-Baptiste and Michele Austin won acting honors. Payal Kapadia (“All We Imagine as Light”) won best director and their film best foreign-language feature. “Anora” and “The Brutalist” were runners up in multiple categories. [Source: Variety]
The Studio
Apple TV+ has released the first clip from “The Studio,” the Seth Rogen-led new Hollywood satire series which lampoons the film industry with Rogen playing a man who just got appointed head of a studio. Catherine O’Hara, Kathryn Hahn, Ike Barinholtz and Chase Sui Wonders co-star and the series premieres March 26th.
