Lucasfilm has marked the 20th anniversary of George Lucas’ “Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith” with the release of a new logo as part of new promotional art.
Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi duel in front of Darth Vader’s helmet in scenes evoking the finale of the prequel trilogy to mark the almost two decades since the release of the film in May 2005.
Whereas the franchise has become known for some of its more toxic elements in recent years, much of the reaction so far has been very positive to the artwork and the impact the prequels and “Star Wars” had on people’s overall lives.
The movie earned $868.4 million worldwide during release, making it the second most popular film of the prequel trilogy behind only “The Phantom Menace”.
As of today it sits as the 71st highest grossing film of all time worldwide. Reviews wise, ‘Sith’ also scored the best notices of the prequels.
With the anniversary, talk is already swirling of a potential re-release and tie-in merchandisde to celebrate the occasion. Lucasfilm hasn’t commented on any such plans for a re-release as yet.
