The post-Christmas box-office has continued to be a neck-and-neck race between “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” and Disney’s “Mufasa: The Lion King” with both likely to score some sort of victory.

The third “Sonic” won Friday with $12.6 million to Mufasa’s $12.1 million with the blue blur set to likely win the three-day weekend with $38 million (down just 38% from its debut) over “Mufasa” with $37 million (up a very impressive 4% from its soft debut).

However, the lion is set to be king of the five-day Wednesday-Sunday weekend with that haul expected to be $63.7 million compared to Sonic’s $59.9 million. As of end of Sunday, “Sonic 3” will be at $137.6 million domestic total to Mufasa’s $111.4 million.

In third was Robert Eggers’ “Nosferatu” with the title set to earn $21.1 million for the three-day and around $40 million for the five-day – the fourth best opening for a Focus Features title and Eggers’ best opening to date.

Fourth will be “Wicked” with $19.4 million for the three-day and $31.7 million for the five-day. The film surpassed “Mamma Mia” globally this weekend to become the No.1 stage musical adaptation at the global box office with $634.4 million.

“Moana 2” rounds out the top five with $18.3 million for the three-day and $28.3 million for the five-day.

Sixth goes to newcomer “A Complete Unknown,” the Bob Dylan biopic scoring the best opening for Searchlight’s since the pandemic with $11.6 million for the three-day and $23 million for the five-day.

Seventh will be the Nicole Kidman-led “Babygirl” which debuts to $4.4 million for the three-day and $7.2 million for the five-day. Another newcomer, “The Fire Inside,” debuted in tenth with $2 million for the three-day and $4.3 million for the five-day.
