The post-Christmas doldrums were livened up this afternoon with the arrival of some new rumors.
First up, The Insneider is reporting that Christopher Nolan’s upcoming adaptation of Homer’s “The Odyssey” is likely to be the most expensive film that the director has made to date.
Nolan’s most costly film up until now was “The Dark Knight Rises” which came in on a net budget of $230 million, followed by “Tenet” at $205 million. In contrast, “Oppenheimer” was one of his most cost-effective modern films at $100 million.
That said, historical epics like the mythological “Odyssey” generally fare very well in overseas markets and Nolan films often gross twice as much overseas as they do domestically.
Meanwhile, a new live-action “Power Rangers” movie is reportedly in development according to insider DanielRPK. In addition, discussions are underway about a potential animated series based on the property.
At last report “The End of the F—-ng World” director Jonathan Entwistle was attached to a film reboot being set up at Netflix with Jenny Klein set to showrun a new live-action TV series set in the same continuity. Then in June, it was announced none of the projects would move forward with Hasbro seeing a new partner.
