A few months ago, “La La Land” and “Babylon” filmmaker Damien Chazelle indicated that he has two projects in development but isn’t clear which one will be going first.

Now it seems one of them has come to the fore. DanielRPK reports that Chazelle’s next film will be the Evil Knievel biopic at Paramount Pictures, a film which has Leonardo DiCaprio attached to star in it.

In addition, “The Departed” scribe William Monahan has long been attached to write the script for the project based on the Sheldon Saltman book “Evel Knievel On Tour”.

Knievel was a famed, hot-headed American stunt performer known for his motorcycle jumps and breaking records for breaking bones with over 430 fractures.

His career nosedived after he physically attacked Saltman with a baseball bat, shattering the man’s arm. The book depicted Knievel’s life on the road and revealed embarrassing personal details.

Filmmaker Darren Aronofsky and actor Channing Tatum were attached to a previous incarnation of the project back in the 2010s, as were director Betty Thomas and Matthew McConaughey.

Chazelle is coming off “Babylon” which reportedly lost Paramount an estimated $87 million. The other Chazelle project in development is rumored to be a mid-budget prison-set action film.
