Two branches, one tree. Get ready for a next chapter as Sony Pictures Entertainment releases the official trailer for the upcoming film Karate Kid: Legends. View trailer below.
In Karate Kid: Legends, after a family tragedy, kung fu prodigy Li Fong (Ben Wang) is uprooted from his home in Beijing and forced to move to New York City with his mother. Li struggles to let go of his past as he tries to fit in with his new classmates, and although he doesn’t want to fight, trouble seems to find him everywhere. When a new friend needs his help, Li enters a karate competition – but his skills alone aren’t enough. Li’s kung fu teacher Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) enlists original Karate Kid Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) for help, and Li learns a new way to fight, merging their two styles into one for the ultimate martial arts showdown.
Oh, wow. I was wondering when this first trailer for this movie will be coming out. There is no doubt that the original Karate Kid film has been a landmark fan favorite to many out there, capitalizing on the idea and identity of such palpable 80s style story of a young boy learning karate. It is because of this why the hit TV series Cobra Kai has spoken to the older generation, but also to a whole new one as well. Such success and recent popularity of Cobra Kai brings up a new movie, with Karate Kid: Legends looking to bring together two iconic actors from the franchise for a new story. From the footage shown, it certainly does look incredible. All in all, I’m quite excited to see where Karate Kid: Legends takes the franchise and unites these two former pupils of Miyagi into a new chapter.
Karate Kid: Legends arrives in theaters on May 30th, 2025
