HBO has reneweed its sci-fi prequel series spin-off “Dune: Prophecy” for a second season. The order comes days ahead of the first season finale of the series this coming Sunday.
The premiere episode of the series has pulled in a reported 15 million viewers worldwide on Max since its November 17th debut.
Showrunner Alison Schapker, who will continue on in that capacity in the second season, announced the news at a press conference on Thursday.
She says: “We’re so thrilled and grateful for their support, for our partners at Legendary, and most of all that we get to keep working with these incredible people in front of and behind the camera and get to keep telling this story.”
The series is set 10,000 years before the events of the films and centers on two Harkonnen sisters (Emily Watson and Olivia Williams) as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit.
The season one cast also included the likes of Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, Mark Strong, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Camilla Beeput, Jihae, Tabu, Charithra Chandran, Jessica Barden, Emma Canning and Yerin Ha.
