Netflix has ordered a second season of its acclaimed Ted Danson-led comedy series “A Man on the Inside”.
The order comes through just a few weeks after the show’s late November premiere with Danson earning a Golden Globe nomination for his work and the AFI calling it one of the top TV shows of the year.
Created by “The Good Place” and “Parks and Recreation” alum Mike Schur, the series is inspired by the Oscar-nominated documentary The Mole Agent.
The first season sees Danson playing a widower who goes to work for a private investigator (Lilah Richcreek Estrada) to investigate thefts in a retirement community.
The plan is for subsequent seasons to follow the elderly character’s fledgling career as an undercover detective. Schur tells THR he’s sticking by the series: “I told Netflix, I’ll do this forever if you want to keep paying me to write seasons of a show where Ted Danson is an undercover detective. I will sign up for this through 2050 if you let me.”
The first season also starred Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Stephanie Beatriz, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Sally Struthers, Margaret Avery, John Getz and Susan Ruttan.
