With Chris Evans coming back to the MCU, it seems his former on screen flame will return with him.
Actress Hayley Atwell is expected to reprise her Agent Carter role in the upcoming “Avengers: Doomsday” for Marvel Studios according to Deadline.
Evans has reportedly been discussing a return in some form to the Marvel Cinematic Universe for several years with Atwell’s return also part of that plan. At one point is was floated as a possible standalone feature.
It wasn’t until the story of “Avengers: Doomsday” was sorted out that bringing back both characters became a distinct possibility.
Atwell played her role across two “Captain America” films, two “Avengers” films, “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” and “Ant-Man,” as wekk as notable guest roles in the animated series “What If?”.
She also lead her own TV series, the period tale “Agent Carter,” which ran for two seasons on ABC and scored strong acclaim at the time.
Anthony and Joe Russo are returning to direct “Avengers: Doomsday” which has Kevin Feige slated to produce. Filming on the project gets underway early next year ahead of a May 2026 release.
Atwell most recently voiced Lara Croft in Netflix’s animated “Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft” series and will be seen next reprising her role of Grace in “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” opening May 2025.
