Anya Taylor-Joy appeared at Brazil’s CCXP the other day to promote the forthcoming thriller “The Gorge,” and during her press rounds there she spoke about another project.
That project? “Dune: Messiah,” the third and seemingly final film in Denis Villeneuve’s efforts to adapt Frank Herbert’s sci-fi saga for the screen.
Taylor-Joy briefly appeared in “Dune: Part Two” in visions, appearing as a grown up version of Alia Atreides – younger sister of Paul (Timothee Chalamet) and daughter of Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson).
Speaking about her excitement to get into the role, Taylor-Joy tells Collider:
“Yeah, the film is being made, and I am so thrilled to be a part of it. I’m such a big fan of everybody that’s a part of that project and I just can’t wait.”
The character plays a major role in ‘Messiah’, though Villeneuve already changed up the source material for Alia in the second film – reducing her role there. Thus it’s not certain how extensive her part will be in the new film.
“Dune: Messiah” is expected to begin filming sometime in early 2026 for a mid-2027 release.
