After skipping 2024, National Cinema Day will return in 2025 with an expanded offering and heavily discounted movie theater tickets several times across the year.
Rebranded “@ the Movies,” it will feature a series of quarterly events to promote moviegoing throughout the year. The four events will be as follows:
January 19th: National Popcorn Day
This will offer customers half off the buttery snack and free upgrades.
April 19th: Sneak Peek Saturday
Offers a look at upcoming summer and holiday films with trailers and featurettes typically reserved for exhibitors and industry professionals at CinemaCon.
August 15th: Date Night @ the Movies

November 9th: Family Day @ the Movies

The Cinema Foundation (TCF), the non-profit branch of the National Association of Theatre Owners, hosts the initiative. Bryan Braunlich, executive director of TCF, says:
“The Cinema Foundation is committed to this year-long campaign by offering exhibitors opportunities to engage with their communities in fun and exciting ways. This is the result of months of hard work and collaboration among our industry partners, and we cannot wait to invite moviegoers across the country to participate in what will be continued enjoyment at the movies.”
The previous National Cinema Day’s in 2022 and 2023 were big successes with roughly 8.5 million attendees and $34 million in revenue garnered on the on the one day in 2023 as tickets were just $4 each.
