Benedict Cumberbatch says he has no plans to give up his Doctor Strange character at Marvel any time soon, and teases more is on the way shortly.
Appearing at the Red Sea Film Festival (via Variety), the actor discussed his Marvel Studios career which has been going for almost a decade now – and there’s more to come too.
He calls his character a “complex man motivated by a need to control everything at any cost. I am interested in seeing where these costs take him, there is a lot more to play and it’s very exciting.”
He also says they’re just a blast to work on: When they are really good, they capture the zeitgeist, speak to us and our culture. They are so much fun to do.”
The actor most recently appeared in the role in “Spider-Man: No Way Home” and “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” and was previously confirmed to be putting in an appearance in the upcoming “Avengers: Doomsday”.
He most recently worked alongside Olivia Colman on Jay Roach’s “The Roses,” a reimagining of Danny DeVito’s pitch black divorce comedy “War of the Roses” which he says was a “joy to make” and his “first time as the lead in a comedy”. That film hasn’t set a date as yet.
