Netflix has relelased the trailer for the second season of its dark fantasy animated series “Castlevania: Nocturne,” a spin-off to its acclaimed multi-season “Castlevania” animated show based on the celebrated video game series.

Based primarily on Konami’s 1993 title “Castlevania: Rondo of Blood,” fan-favorite character Alucard returns and teams up with his old friends Trevor Belmont and Sypha’s descendant Richter Belmont in the new run.

The group of vampire hunters are in a desperate race against time as the Vampire Messiah Erzsebet Báthory seeks the full power of the goddess Sekhmet so she can plunge the world into endless darkness and terror.

Showrunner Kevin Kolde previously teased that the new season contains “the biggest, craziest Castlevania fight scene ever.”

The voice cast includes Edward Bluemel as Richter, Pixie Davies as Maria Renard, Thuso Mbedu as Annette, Natassja Kinski as Tera, Sydney James Harcourt as Edouard, Zahn McClarnon as Olrox, and Franka Potente as Erzsebet Báthory

The show was created and executive produced by showrunners Clive Bradley and Kevin Kolde, with Sam Deats and Adam Deats directing.

“Castlevania: Nocturne” Season 2 will stream on the service on January 16th.
