Rockstar Games’ “Grand Theft Auto VI” is expected to hit Fall 2025, but wherever it lands it’s likely not going to get much in the way of competition.
Bloomberg reports that rival game publishers are effectively running scared of the title, waiting as long as possible to commit to their release dates for next Fall to see if Rockstar will delay the release until 2026.
The company said last month the game is still on track to hit its previously announced Fall 2025 release window.
If it does, rival publishers plan to put significant distance between the release of their own games and the title meaning the usual stack up of huge games in the Fall may be more evenly spaced out over the months before and after GTA VI’s release.
The title is one of the industry’s most anticipated releases of all-time as the open-world crime franchise saw its fifth entry, “Grand Theft Auto V,” having sold over 205 million copies to date.
That game famously reached $1 billion in retail sales faster than other entertainment release in history. The first trailer for GTA VI arrived almost exactly a year ago and drew big numbers on YouTube.
