Still out there chatting about the launch of the “Creature Commandos” series, DC Studios co-chief James Gunn says some key casting for other DC projects has taken place but hasn’t been announced yet.
As previously reported, Gunn told Happy Sad Confused that the “Waller,” “Booster Gold” and “Batman: The Brave & The Bold” films are still very much in development with the scripts not yet ready. As a result, they haven’t begun any serious inroads into things like casting.
Gunn now also has revealed he has four potential scripts to write next for DC Studios after his “Superman” and “Peacemaker” commitments are done. Asked if he has cast certain actors in parts that aren’t public yet, he immediately responds with a yes.
Then asked if any of those are “Guardians Of The Galaxy” castmembers, he also says yes and adds: “Like actually signed contracts cast or? Yeah, we’ve had real talks, yes.”
Gunn also said Dave Bautista wanted to play the Batman villain Bane at one point, but it’s not clear if that’s still the case: “I don’t know if Dave wants to be Bane anymore, he used to want to be Bane, but I think Dave would rather be any other character than Bane right now… I love Dave and want to work with him again, but I’m not sure he wants to [play that character] anymore.”
For now from DC Studios we have “Superman” and “Peacemaker” Season 2 in 2025 followed by “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” and “Lanterns” in 2026.
Other projects in development include “The Authority” which has no writer or director, “Swamp Thing” which James Mangold is writing and directing, and then three projects which each has writers – “Sgt. Rock,” an untitled “Teen Titans” film and an untitled Bane and Deathstroke film.
