Warner Bros. Discovery has indicated that it plans a Summer 2025 start date for production of its “Harry Potter” TV series with shooting taking place at Leavesden Studios where the films were shot.
The show has reportedly auditioned over 32,000 children for its lead roles with the series planning to stick to the canonical ages for the characters as they’re mentioned in the books. [Source: Variety]
Matchbox
Emmy winner Sam Richardson (“Ted Lasso”) has joined Mattel Films upcoming live-action film adaptation its real-world die-cast Matchbox car toy line. He joins a cast that includes John Cena and Jessica Biel.
“Extraction” director Sam Hargrave helms the film from a script by David Coggeshall (“The Family Plan”) and Jonathan Tropper (“The Adam Project”). Plot and character specifics are under wraps. [Source: THR]
On Call
Amazon Prime Video has released the official trailer for its half-hour police drama “On Call” starring Troian Bellisario, Brandon Larracuente, Eriq La Salle and Lori Loughlin. The eight-episode series is scheduled to start streaming on January 9th 2025.
The series follows a rookie and veteran officer duo as they go on patrol in Long Beach, California. Incorporating a mixture of bodycam, dash-camera, and cellphone footage, the show explores the morality of protecting and serving a community.
Ballerina
Lionsgate has released an impressive new poster for its upcoming “John Wick” spin-off “Ballerina” starring Ana de Armas. She stars as Eve Macarro, a ballerina who trains to become an assassin with events taking place around the same time as “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum”.
Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Norman Reedus, Ian McShane, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, David Castañeda, and the late Lance Reddick co-star in the film with Keanu Reeves also making an appearance. The Len Wiseman-directed film opens June 6th 2025.
