By “Anora” breakout star Mark Eydelshteyn is set to make his American TV debut as the male lead in the second season of Amazon Prime Video’s “Mr. & Mrs. Smith”.
Eydelshteyn will play the eponymous Mr. Smith. Singe rBillie Eilish had been rumored for the female lead, Mrs. Smith, but was unable to make it work due to touring commitments..
Created by Donald Glover and Francesca Sloane, the first season followed two lonely strangers (Donald Glover, Maya Erskine) who pose as a married couple – Mrs. John and Jane Smith – as they both begin new careers as spies.
The pair navigate high-risk missions while also facing a new relationship milestone. Their complex cover story becomes even more complicated when they catch real feelings for each other.
The first season finale saw John and Jane getting into a gunfight, leaving it unclear if they survived. The new Jane and John are different characters, which means Glover and Erskine could conceivably reprise their roles at later dates.
Sloane returns as executive producer and showrunner for the second season while Glover will executive produce.
