Sony Pictures has released the first poster for Danny Boyle’s “28 Years Later,” the one-sheet expected to come ahead of the film’s first trailer which has been confirmed to be releasing online sometime next week.

Story details are under wraps, though co-star Ralph Fiennes let some details slip a few weeks back. As expected, it will be set 28 years after the plague turned much of the populous into violent, rabid humans with only a few pockets of communities who’ve managed to escape it.

The story will reportedly center on a young boy seeking a doctor to help his dying mother and so the pair go on a trek through northern England for help – trying to avoid the infected where possible.

Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jack O’Connell and Erin Kellyman co-star in the film which was made on a budget of $75 million and was reportedly shot with an iPhone 15 by Boyle’s usual cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle.

Filmmaker Alex Garland has returned to write the script for not just this but two further films in a planned trilogy. The second film, directed by Nia DaCosta, has already been shot and will likely arrive in 2026.

“28 Years Later” opens in cinemas in June next year.
