By The BBC has released the first trailer for the “Doctor Who” 2024 Christmas special.
Titled “Joy to the World,” and penned by Matt Smith/Peter Capaldi-era showrunner Steven Moffat, the episode will see Ncuti Gatwa’s Doctor teaming up with Joy who is played by “Bridgerton” alum Nicola Coughlan.
In the episode, The Time Hotel is the destination of choice for guests in the 41st century. The luxury establishment allows its patrons to visit notable moments in history.
As the Doctor investigates. a woman named Joy checks into a London hotel in 2024 and discovers that her quiet stay is anything but ordinary when a Silurian enters her room with a briefcase containing a Star Seed.
The sinister arms manufacturer Villengard wants to activate the Star Seed as an unlimited energy source, but activating it is potentially catastrophic to everyone at every time on Earth.
All of human history hangs in the balance. Destinations, danger, dinosaurs, and a deadly plan unfold. Can the Doctor and Joy save Christmas everywhere, all at once?”
Joel Fry and Jonathan Aris also star in the episode which will go live at the same time on BBC One in the UK and Disney+ worldwide at 5:10pm GMT and 12:10pm US-EST on Christmas Day.
