Starz has officially announced a second season renewal for its Ella Purnell-led revenge thriller series “Sweetpea”.

The show follows a young woman continually overlooked at work, with a non-committal boyfriend, and a very sick dad. She’s pushed over the edge and loses control. Gone is the wallflower, replaced by someone capable of anything – including murder.

The second season will pick up right where the first ended with Rhiannon Lewis (Purnell) returning with a vengeance as her killer secret continues to spiral and she becomes more twisted than ever.

Nicôle Lecky, Jon Pointing, Calam Lynch, Leah Harvey, Jeremy Swift and Dustin Demri-Burns co-star in the series but so far Purnell is the only confirmed returnee.

In a statement, “Fallout” star Purnell says: “Being part of Rhiannon’s coming-of-rage journey has been a career highlight for me, and to see fans engage with and relate to our oddball Rhiannon, in all her complexity, feels truly special. I cannot wait for audiences to see what she does next.”

English author CJ Skuse says the first season is “almost like a prequel to the book” upon which the show is based, so there’s “so much source material” still to adapt.
