Anya Taylor-Joy is set to both star in and executive produce the limited series “Lucky” for the Apple TV+ service.
Based on the Marissa Stapley’s New York Times bestselling novel of the same name, Jonathan Tropper and Cassie Pappas are adapting it for the screen and will serve as co-showrunners and executive producers.
The “Furiosa” and “The Menu” star will play a young woman who left behind the life of crime she was raised in years ago, but must now embrace her darker, criminal side one final time in a desperate attempt to escape her past.
The role sees Taylor-Joy return to streaming TV after she earned major acclaim for her lead role in Scott Frank’s limited series “The Queen’s Gambit” for Netflix. It marks her second work for Apple as she’ll soon be seen starring in the upcoming film “The Gorge”.
Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter will also executive produce the “Lucky” series. Witherspoon has long setup shop at Apple – producing and starring in “The Morning Show” and producing both “Surface” and “The Last Thing He Told Me”
Tropper and Pappas both already have series at Apple, the former with “Your Friends and Neighbors” and the latter with “Silo”.
