Dwayne Johnson has confirmed that he’s wearing a muscled body suit for the recently wrapped filming live-action “Moana” movie at Disney.

On the weekend photos emerged online of the actor filming scenes on a beach dressed in full Maui outfit – complete with body-length tattoos and grass skirt.

The actor looked quite muscled and more like his older build than his current slimmer one which he’s been seen with whilst out promoting “Moana 2” – leading to people suspecting he was having prosthetic help.

Speaking with Extra, he says he can’t take credit for the build, it is a bodysuit: “That’s a suit that took a long time to put on. So, I’m so happy you said, ‘You bulked up,’ because when you say, ‘You bulked up,’ that means you couldn’t tell.”

A bodysuit also makes things much simpler with the tattoos which don’t have to be handdrawn on which he indicates would’ve taken “a couple of hours every day of transforming”.

He also says the photos were unexpected. They shot outside and had walls up to block paparazzi, but photographers got into boats and started shooting pictures.

Newcomer Catherine Laga’aia takes on the title role in the film which is targeting a Summer 2026 release. Shooting began in July in Atlanta and Hawaii and wrapped last week.
