CBS has released the official trailer for their medical mystery drama series “Watson,” a modern day spin-off of the classic Sherlock Holmes stories by Arthur Conan Doyle.

The network had a long running hit with “Elementary” which transposed Holmes and Watson into private investigators in modern New York assisting the cops to solve crimes.

This time out it’s a modern day medical procedural with a new twist – Sherlock’s dead. Set six months after Holmes was murdered at the hands of Moriarty, we follow Dr. John Watson, who resumes his medical career as the head of a clinic dedicated to treating rare disorders.

Watson’s old life isn’t done with him though as Moriarty and he are set to write their own chapter of a story. The network calls this a “medical show with a strong investigative spine”.

Morris Chestnut takes on the role of Watson and, with the help of a group of young doctors, sets out to solve cases. Eve Harlow, Peter Mark Kendall, Ritchie Coster, Inga Schlingmann and Rochelle Aytes also star.

The series is written and executive produced by showrunner Craig Sweeney. Also executive producing are Chestnut, Sallie Patrick, Larry Teng, Dr. Shäron Moalem MD, Aaron Kaplan, and Brian Morewitz.

“Watson” is scheduled to make its debut on January 26th 2025.
