Paramount+ with Showtime has released the official full trailer for “Dexter: Original Sin,” the upcoming 1990s-set prequel to Showtime’s iconic drama “Dexter”.
The ten-episode series will launch on December 13th via streaming and on-demand for Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers and internationally. The U.S. linear broadcast will then premiere two days later.
The original eight-season long series starred Michael C. Hall as a police blood spatter analyst who moonlights as a serial killer. Hall returns to the series as the show’s narrator with the trailer teasing that the series will be a ‘life flashing before his eyes’ style deal whilst on the ER operating table following the events of “Dexter: New Blood”.
Patrick Gibson (“Shadow and Bone”) has been cast as the young Dexter Morgan in the series which begins fifteen years earlier when Dexter is a 20-year-old student transitioning into a serial killer in training.
When his urges can no longer be ignored, he finds understanding in his father Harry (Christian Slater) who teaches Dexter a Code designed to both avoiding getting caught and help him find and kill people who deserve to die.
At the same time, the young Dexter begins a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department. Also starring as younger versions of existing characters are Molly Brown as Dexter’s sister Debra, James Martinez as Angel Batista, Christina Milian as Maria LaGuerta and Alex Shimizu as Vince Masuka.
Also onboard are Patrick Dempsey and Sarah Michelle Gellar as the Miami Homicide Department Captain and CSI chief respectively. The series will be followed at a later date by “Dexter: Resurrection” with Hall reprising his role and continuing on from events of ‘New Blood’.
