Before Dave Filoni’s “Star Wars” film goes into production and essentially wraps up the Mandoverse-era of the franchise, we still have a second season of “Ahsoka” on the way.
Filming on the new season is tipped to begin in April next year, and now DanielRPK (via SFFGazette says Lucasfilm has seemingly learnt a key lesson from “The Acolyte” – namely they won’t be closing out on cliffhanger.
According to the scooper, the plan is to ensure the second season has a satisfying ending in case the show is either cancelled or opts not to return for a third season.
The first season of the series ends with several characters trapped in an entirely different galaxy while the exiled Grand Admiral Thrawn has made his way back to the main “Star Wars” one – setting the stage for Filoni to do his spin on the famed “Heir to the Empire” storyline.
It all felt like deliberate stage setting for a second season, a contrast to “The Mandalorian” which has generally ended each season wrapping up its storylines with possible ‘endings’. In contrast, “The Acolyte” ended its first and only season with many lingering plot threads still dangling.
Fans will shortly be able to watch “Skeleton Crew,” the young-skewing series set in the same time period as the Mandoverse shows which launches on December 3rd.
After a break from the period with the pre-“A New Hope” set “Andor” second season next year, 2026 will see both “The Mandalorian & Grogu” film and the second season of “Ahsoka” arrive on big and small screens respectively.
