The incredible bond of between a boy and a dragon gets a new cinematic vision as Universal Pictures releases the official teaser trailer for How to Train Your Dragon. View trailer below.
On the rugged isle of Berk, where Vikings and dragons have been bitter enemies for generations, Hiccup (Mason Thames; The Black Phone, For All Mankind) stands apart. The inventive yet overlooked son of Chief Stoick the Vast (Gerard Butler, reprising his voice role from the animated franchise), Hiccup defies centuries of tradition when he befriends Toothless, a feared Night Fury dragon. Their unlikely bond reveals the true nature of dragons, challenging the very foundations of Viking society. With the fierce and ambitious Astrid (BAFTA nominee Nico Parker; Dumbo, The Last of Us) and the village’s quirky blacksmith Gobber (Nick Frost; Snow White and the Huntsman, Shaun of the Dead) by his side, Hiccup confronts a world torn by fear and misunderstanding. As an ancient threat emerges, endangering both Vikings and dragons, Hiccup’s friendship with Toothless becomes the key to forging a new future. Together, they must navigate the delicate path toward peace, soaring beyond the boundaries of their worlds and redefining what it means to be a hero and a leader.
Oh wow….I wasn’t expecting a trailer for this, but I am glad that it materialized. Being fan of the series since its beginning, this teaser trailer was a lot of fun and exciting for me to see. It was cool to see Gerard Butler representing the same character he played in the animated film and I love seeing a more realistic looking Toothless. Perhaps my only worrying thought about this movie (from the preview) is that some moments are “one-and-one” shots from thee original animated feature. True, that particular moment shown is quite iconic in the original one, but it’s worrying if that this live-action remake might try and pull the same stunt that 2019’s The Lion King tried to do by duplicating many of the scenes and imagery in a cinematic verbatim presentation. Hopefully that’s not the case and this new movie does do next ideas and concepts for the narrative being told. Despite that one notion, I am quite excited to see what this live-action version will bring to the table for the How to Train Your Dragon franchise.
