Jason Segel, Samara Weaving, Timothy Olyphant and Juliette Lewis have signed on to star in the thriller “The Trip” which is being directed by The Lonely Island member Jorma Taccone (“Pop Star: Never Stop Stopping,” “MacGruber”).
The story follows a dysfunctional couple (Segel and Weaving) who head to a remote cabin to supposedly reconnect, but each has secret plans to kill the other.
The script was adapted by Nick Kocher and Brian McElhaney from Tommy Wirkola’s Norwegian thriller “I Onde Dager” which starred Noomi Rapace and Aksel Hennie.
Former “CSI” alum Paul Guilfoyle and former UFC star Keith Jardine will also appear in the film. Kelly McCormick, Lee Kim and Guy Danella produce while Taccone and Wirkola executive produce and Karen Gillan co-produces.
Wirkola says in a statement: “I can’t wait to see Jorma bring his totally singular sensibility to the material. That, combined with this killer cast, makes me beyond excited that this film will truly stand out in the cinematic landscape.”
Filming is currently underway in Tampere, Finland with the production receiving tax credits.
