Actor Colin Farrell has revealed that the recent HBO series “The Penguin” cut a scene that may upset fans.
In “The Batman” spin-off series, it’s made quite clear that Oz Cobb is not a fan of his eponymous nickname which has always been used as a slur or in a derogatory way against him.
Speaking with Cinema Blend, Farrell explained that the season finale was originally going to a have a scene of self-actualisation – the character shown to embrace the name as a symbol of strength.
Discussing the scene that didn’t make the final cut, he says:
“There was a scene in the eighth episode where a kid says, ‘you’re the Penguin, aren’t you,’ and then something about his mother. And then I say to him at the end of the scene, ‘you tell your mom The Penguin takes care of his own.’”
It would’ve added another scene to a finale that has already generated a lot of discussion, especially for its last 20 minutes and where it leaves things ahead of “The Batman: Part II”.
The full season of “The Penguin” is available now on Max.
