Bethesda Softworks has released a new 14-minute gameplay deep dive trailer for developer MachineGames’ “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle” which comes to Xbox Series X|S and PC on December 9th and PS5 early next year.
Game acting legend Troy Baker plays Indiana in the game which has drawn anticipation but also quite a bit of division over its choice of using a primarily first-person perspective for an action-adventure game – a genre that’s generally third-person.
The reasoning makes sense – MachineGames is famous for the “Wolfenstein” franchise so first person is what they’re comfortable with. The game briefly switches to third person for cinematics and certain animations, nevertheless it remains the most talked about issue with the game.
The story follows archaeologist Indiana Jones in 1937 (between ‘Raiders’ and ‘Last Crusade’) as he attempts to thwart various groups who are seeking to harness a power connected to the Great Circle, sites around the world that form a perfect circle when connected together on a map.
The game’s locations include Rome, Shanghai, Thailand, Egypt and the Himalayas. During his journey, he teams up with investigative reporter Gina Lombardi (Alessandra Mastronardi) who has an interest in the case. The game’s villain is the manipulative Emmerich Voss (voiced by Marios Gavrilis).
The title will also posthumously star veteran actor Tony Todd, who passed away last week.
