Netflix’s live-action remake of “Avatar: The Last Airbender” has added eight actors to the cast of its second season.
Joining the cast are Chin Han (“Mortal Kombat”) as Long Feng, the leader of the Dai Li secret police; Hoa Xuande (“The Sympathizer”) as Ba Sing Se University anthropology department chief Professor Zei; and Justin Chien (“The Brothers Sun”) as Earth Kingdom ruler King Kuei.
Also onboard are Amanda Zhou (“Spinning Out”) as public servant Joo Dee, Crystal Yu (“Good Omens”) as Toph’s mother Lady Beifong, Kelemete Misipeka (“Sons of Thunder”) as earthbending wrestler The Boulder, Lourdes Faberes (“The Sandman”) as Earth military commander General Sung, and Rekha Sharma (“Yellowjackets”) as a new character named Amita.
The new additions join returning cast members like Gordon Cormier, Kiawentiio, Ian Ousley, Dallas Liu, Elizabeth Yu, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, Daniel Dae Kim, Momona Tamada and Thalia Tran. Previously announced was the addition of Miya Cech as Toph Beifong.
The second season of “Avatar: The Last Airbender” is currently in production at Netflix and the streamer has already renewed the show through a third season which will conclude where the animated series does.
The live-action adaptation has already made several changes to characters and storylines, so the versions seen here could have some differences compared to the original show.
Jabbar Raisani and Christine Boylan are executive producers and showrunners on the series. Albert Kim, Dan Lin, Ryan Halprin, and Brendan Ferguson executive produce.
