Denzel Washington has followed through on his “very few films” left for him to star in asssessment today while out promoting the “Gladiator II” sequel.

Speaking to Today Australia, Washington confirmed he’s going to be in Marvel Studios’ next “Black Panther” film, saying that director Ryan Coogler is writing him a role.

He also indicated it will be one of his final films alongside Steve McQueen’s new film, as well as a film adaptation of Denzel’s upcoming return to the stage with the title role in Shakespeare’s “Othello” – a role he first played at 22 and will shortly play at 70. He says:

“For me it’s about the filmmakers. Especially at this point in my career, I am only interested in working with the best. I don’t know how many more films I’m going to make. It’s probably not that many. I want to do things I haven’t done.”

He then goes on to say that once the “Othello” stage procuction is done, he’s already got his next projects worked out with Antoine Fuqua’s Hannibal the Conqueror film.:

“After that, I am playing Hannibal. After that, I’ve been talking to Steve McQueen about a film. After that, Ryan Coogler is writing a part for me in the next ‘Black Panther.’ After that, I’m going to do the film ‘Othello,’ After that, I’m going to do King Lear. After that, I’m going to retire”

“Gladiator II” hits cinemas starting from tomorrow internationally and already has Denzel generating Oscar buzz.
