Sony’s “Venom: The Last Dance” stayed on top of a dead quiet post-Election box-office in the United States.
The third and final entry in the biggest sub-franchise in the SPUMC universe pulled in an estimated $16.2 million in its third weekend outing – bringing its domestic total to $114.8 million so far.
The faith-tinged “Best Christmas Pageant Ever” and A24’s Hugh Grant-let psychological horror pic “Heretic” are vying for second place with both on track to take in $11 million each with ‘Pageant’ having a slight edge.
“The Wild Robot” came in fourth with $6.7 million while “Smile 2” was fifth with $5 million. Nipping at their heels was awards contender “Conclave” with $4.1 million, while “Anora” went wide and pulled in $2.5 million.
This marks the last quiet weekend we’ll have for a while with Christmas-themed action comedy “Red One” expected to open around $30 million this coming Friday.
In the weeks after that comes the trio of juggernauts – “Gladiator II,” “Wicked” and “Moana 2” with openings expected to be around $70 million, $100+ million and $120+ million respective.y
