Christopher Nolan’s next movie may remain a mystery, but we already knew Matt Damon and Tom Holland were in it. Now the cast has grown, and it’s all A-List. Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, and Lupita Nyong’o have all signed up.
Nolan likes to return to actors he worked with before. Hathaway was in The Dark Knight Rises, while Damon was in Interstellar and Oppenheimer. Could Michael Caine make another appearance?
So is Nolan really making a big-budget version of Blue Thunder? Really? That is the rumor. The stories circulating out there say it is a futuristic action film about a helicopter pilot cop who heads up the Aviation Unit. He finds himself involved in a plot around an advanced helicopter prototype that is being pursued by terrorists.
This casting news comes from Deadline. Damon as Frank Murphy, Holland as J.A.F.O. ? Could happen.
It would be a return to more mainstream thrills for Nolan, who reportedly shared copies of the 1983 John Badham-directed original with his assembling crew.
Nolan is expected to be utilizing new IMAX technology in the making of the film, and expansive, dynamic aerial sequences using this technology could be something that has piqued his interest.
The as-yet-untitled Universal Pictures movie is set for release on July 17th, 2026.
