Ahhh, Brazil. Home of the Miss Bum-Bum context, exquisitely lady-garden topiary, and Pele. This year, at least, it is also home to D23, Disney’s big expo where they reveal lots about their upcoming projects, and a load of slathering fanboys wave lightsabers or wear Mickey ears. This year, the first big news out of the event is the confirmation of the date we can expect the second season of Andor.

Andor was the only decent Star Wars to come out of Disney. When it started, there were low expectations and little interest. What unfolded was a wonderful rumination on the nature of rebellion set against the backdrop of unfolding galactic politics. It dealt with themes of slavery, sacrifice, bureaucracy, and even what happens when political opinions start to splinter a family. It dared to hint at the fact that one man’s freedom fighter is another man’s terrorist.

In short, it was a textbook example of what Disney Star Wars could have been if they just let the adults run things and given them a bit of freedom, instead of the bitter cat ladies.

Fuck it, now I am just angry at Star Wars all over again. It’s like being the losing contestant on a gameshow, being shown what you could have won. Anyway, big boy pants on, and we will continue…

The first poster was spotted at D23 and it revealed we can expect to see what may well be the last bit of quality Star Wars for a generation on April 22nd.

An April 22nd release date for #Andor season 2 has appeared on Disney+!

Lucasfilm’s panel at D23 Brasil begins today at 10:30am PT, we can probably expect an official announcement there!

There is a panel at D23 in just a few hours where it is expected that Marvel and Lucasfilm will be showing off their wares. A trailer for Andor season 2 is expected to be among them.

If any of us are still here and not out drinking heavily somewhere, we might share them.
