It’s official, Disney and 20th Century Animation have announced that a sixth “Ice Age” film is in the works – complete with a video reel of the stars teasing the project.
Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Queen Latifah, Denis Leary, and Simon Pegg are all confirmed to be returning with the actors having led the voice cast of the family franchise over the years.
Leguizamo first hinted that a new one was coming during a post-screening Q&A back in September. The project will mark the first film in the series released in cinemas under Disney’s ownership.
The prior film, “Ice Age: Collision Course,” opened in 2016 and grossed $408.5 million worldwide. Along with the five films that began in 2002, there have been been several shorts and series set within the franchise.
The most recent of those was the 2022 spin-off “The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild” which follows two opossum brothers and their adventure to becoming independent possums alongside the titular Buck Wild.
Disney hasn’t indicated when “Ice Age 6” will debut in cinemas but as it’s in production it’s likely not until 2026 or later.
