Following the massive success of Marvel Studios’ “Deadpool & Wolverine,” the core trio of creatives on the project – Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman and director Shawn Levy – will reunite.
Appearing in a Variety Awards Circuit Podcast episode to be released later this week, Reynolds revealed that he’s “spending the year writing… I’m writing a movie for myself, Hugh [Jackman] and Shawn [Levy] to do that is not Marvel.”
No further details were forthcoming beyond it not being at Marvel, and more importantly no word on a potential distributor. It will almost certainly be a theatrical play, but it’s one that could end up anywhere.
The project would mark the fourth collaboration between Reynolds and Levy following their work together on “Free Guy,” “The Adam Project” and their MCU hit.
It will mark Jackman’s third with Levy after the pair initially worked together on “Real Steel” in 2011. Levy stated earlier this year that he and Jackman still talk about a potential sequel at times.
Disney is reportedly eyeing awards chances for “Deadpool & Wolverine” from the box office achievement category to technical nods and potentially going up for comedy categories at awards like the Golden Globes.
