The Last Druid
Oscar winner Russell Crowe will star in the Roman Empire-set “The Last Druid” which tells the story of a Roman Emperor who discovers a secluded Druid stronghold in the mountains of Caledonia.

Fing
Taika Waititi is in discussions to star in the live-action film adaptation of David Walliams’ children’s book “Fing!,” alongside Rafe Spall, Walliams and Iona Bell. Walliams and Kevin Cecil will pen the script while Jeffrey Walker directs and filming begins Q1 2025 in Australia and the UK.

The film centers on librarians Mr. and Mrs Meek, who will do anything to keep their darling daughter, Myrtle – even trekking to the furthest and darkest corners of the jungle to get a Fing. The creature turns out to be a destructive monster. [Source: Variety]

Lunik Heist
Jared Leto, John Mulaney and Lupita Nyong’o will star in Kemp Powers’ “Lunik Heist” for Searchlight. No word on a production start date as yet.

The movie is inspired by the audacious true story of the American government’s plot to steal a Soviet spacecraft during a 1959 exhibition in Mexico City. The script is based on an MIT Tech Review article by Jeff Maysh. [Source: Deadline]

Baton
“Captain America: Brave New World” and “Top Gun: Maverick” star Danny Ramirez will make his feature directorial debut with sports drama “Baton” which he also wrote and will star in. Victoria Alonso will produce.

Baton follows a soccer player, relentlessly pursuing his dream of playing professionally, who threatens his relationship with his only family – his sister – after he is kicked off the team and exiled back to Miami. [Source: Deadline]

Crime 101
Jennifer Jason Leigh, Nick Nolte, Tate Donovan, Babak Tafti, Payman Maadi, Deborah Hedwall, Devon Bostick, Paul Adelstein, Drew Powell and Matthew Del Negro will co-star in the thriller “Crime 101” for Amazon Studios.

They join previously announced cast members Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan, Monica Barbaro, Corey Hawkins and Halle Berry. Bart Layton (“American Animals”) directs and wrote the script based on a novella by Don Winslow.

The film deals with a series of high level jewelry thefts up and down the Pacific Coast Highway. Cops think its cartels, but one detective thinks it’s a lone-wolf jewel thief. [Source: Variety]
