As reported yesterday, Ridley Scott has multiple new films in development with the BeeGees biopic “You Should Be Dancing” his immediate next effort to shoot early next year.
In a new interview today with Film Stories today, the 86-year-old says once he’s wrapped filming on that he’ll immediately jump to direct a “mystery sci-fi film” which is already written and “up next”.
Asked if he could provide any further details, he smiled and replied: “No. But it’s a good one.” The outlet adds his terseness during the interview “suggested that it’s secretive enough to keep quiet about”.
He’s likely not referring to a new “Alien” film which he freely mentioned yesterday, though that was likely in reference to the “Alien: Romulus” sequel which he’s only producing and which Fede Alvarez is in talks to direct.
Whatever the new film is, it’ll be Scott’s first foray back into sci-fi since “Alien: Covenant” in 2017. It also means other projects he’s linked to are on the backburner for now including a Battle of Britain film, a western film, thriller “Bomb,” and even “Gladiator III”.
