Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan (“Loki,” “Everything Everywhere All at Once”) gets his own “Nobody”-style vehicle with “Love Hurts,” a new action film from 87North (“Bullet Train,” “Violent Night,” “The Fall Guy”) and Universal Pictures.
Quan scores his first major leading man role as Marvin Gable, a mild-mannered realtor working the Milwaukee suburbs. One day Gable receives a crimson envelope from Rose (Ariana DeBose), a former partner-in-crime that he had left for dead. She’s not happy.
Now, Marvin is thrust back into a world of ruthless hitmen, filled with double-crosses and open houses turned into deadly warzones. With his brother Knuckles (Daniel Wu), a volatile crime lord, hunting him, Marvin must confront the choices that haunt him and the history he never truly buried.
Also starring are Mustafa Shakir, Rhys Darby, Sean Astin, Lio Tipton, André Eriksen and former NFL running back Marshawn ‘Beast Mode’ Lynch.
Veteran stunt coordinator and fight coordinator JoJo Eusebio makes his directorial debut on the film penned by Matthew Murray, Josh Stoddard and Luke Passmore.
Kelly McCormick and David Leitch produce. “Love Hurts” is slated to open in cinemas on February 7th.
