Disney+ and Hulu have released the first trailer for “Goosebumps: The Vanishing,” the eight-episode season of its anthology series based on R.L. Stine’s “Goosebumps” books.
The story follows twins Cece (Jayden Bartels) and Devin Brewer (Sam McCarthy) as they are sent to spend the summer in Gravesend, Brooklyn with their divorced dad and former botany professor Anthony (David Schwimmer).
A threat is stirring, kids go missing, and they quickly realize that dark secrets are among them. This triggers a chain of events that unravel a profound mystery tied to a mysterious symbiotic oragnism and their late uncle.
In the clip, former “Friends” star Schwimmer is possessed by something buried in the earth – unleashing a supernatural entity on New York City. Ana Ortiz, Elijah M. Cooper, Galilea La Salvia, Francesca Noel and Stony Blyden also star.
The new season will use elements from multiple books – “Stay Out of the Basement,” “The Haunted Car,” “Monster Blood,” “The Girl Who Cried Monster,” “The Ghost Next Door” and “Welcome to Camp Nightmare”. Hilary Winston serves as showrunner.
“Goosebumps: The Vanishing” launches on January 10th.
