The Star Trek Universe panel at New York Comic Con on Saturday not only teased the two upcoming new Trek entries with the “Section 31” and “Starfleet Academy” series, it also tackled the return of two beloved favorites.
Paramount+ unveiled a first look clip from the third season of “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” which returns to screens next year and was shot throughout the first half of 2024.
The clip is from the third season premiere which picks up after the second season cliffhanger in which Capt. Pike is caught in a life-or-death battle with the Gorn.
Also confirmed at the panel is that “Our Flag Means Death” and “Jumanji” alum Rhys Darby will appear as a guest star in the new season.
Paramount+ previously announced the series has been renewed for a fourth season which will go into production right after “Starfleet Academy” wraps filming on its first season around February.
Also shown at the panel was the entire fifth season premiere of “Star Trek: Lower Decks” with Paramount+ releasing a first look clip from the season online. That series returns for its final run with a double episode premiere on October 24th.
