Tracking figures for Sony Pictures’ third and final “Venom” film, “Venom: The Last Dance,” indicate the sequel is on track for a $70 million opening on October 25th.
The film sees Eddie and Venom on the run, hunted by both of their worlds. With the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on their last dance.
First shot in late June last year in Spain, the project’s budget sits at around $110 million. A $70 million domestic opening would be the weakest of the franchise to date following the $80.2M start of the original and the $90 million start of the first sequel.
However, it would also be second best opening in 2024 for a comic-book feature after “Deadpool & Wolverine” debuted to $211.4 million.
Tom Hardy, Juno Temple, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Peggy Lu, Stephen Graham, Rhys Ifans, Alanna Ubach and Clark Backo co-star in the new outing.
Kelly Marcel, who wrote the previous two films, pens and directs this third outing which hits cinemas and IMAX screens on October 25th.
